Development of a new Associate Degree in Controlled Environmental Agriculture (AA in CEA) at both participating campuses

To achieve the USDA priority area of workforce development,  IAUPR-BC has created: (a) complete an Associate Degree in Controlled Environmental Agriculture (CEA) with emphasis in precision agriculture and transition to complete a four-year bachelors program in areas of agriculture focused programs (b) students actively participate in industrial experience through ‘earn-while-learn’ strategy, (c) they serve as an Agri-Ambassadors for carrying out outreach activities through Agriculture Mobile Laboratory (d) get trained intensively in laboratory experiences. The 2-year Associate Degree in Controlled Environmental Agriculture would focus on precision agriculture including (a) precision integrated crop management, (b) crop and soil spatial variability, (c) techniques of geographic information system (GIS), digital elevation model (DEM), variable rate machinery, softwares etc. (d) hydroponics and Aquaponics (e) e-marketing. Selected course will have laboratories equivalent to 12 credits and 75 percent of courses would be delivered in virtual format by creating online courses. Our objective will be to prepare dynamic students who will also have the necessary skills and vision to promote collaboration across government, academic, and private sectors in the fields of Controlled Environment Agriculture. With a firm emphasis on developing skills related to problem solving and critical thinking during the course of this program, we are certain that our students will find, and even create, exciting career opportunities for themselves and others. The degree will be offered at both campuses, IAUPR-BC and IAUPR-AC.
